The Suzuki Vitara has a lot going for it, especially if you tow all year round.
The Allgrip four-wheel-drive system gives impressive traction in a hill start – a big advantage if you enjoy staying at farm sites.
The 1.4-litre engine is strong enough to tow from 30-60mph in a respectable 12.4 seconds. It’s a willing and eager engine, well matched to Suzuki’s slick-shifting manual gearbox.
At the legal limit, the Vitara is stable, and even at 70mph, it felt well controlled. However, there was a lot of lean in the lane-change test.
