Last year the Kia Cee’d hatch impressed. This time it’s back in estate guise, with a more powerful diesel engine.
Despite the extra brawn, the 30-60mph time of 19.4 seconds is a little disappointing. Blame the engine’s off-on-off power delivery. The braking distance from 30mph is also on the long side, although wet weather didn’t help the cause.
The handy-sized boot gives the Cee’d a reasonable practicality score. It swallowed every item of holiday luggage except for the Aquaroll. The ease of access to the boot and the absence of a lip to load items over also added points.
The £16,395 price tag makes the 2.0 CRDi Sport one of the cheapest estates in this year’s tests. Resale values aren’t great, though – expect to get back just 34% of the original price after three years.
